Head Gaskets
The next stage of the engine rebuild can start as we have the new head gaskets. These are a stainless steel construction and are slightly thicker than standard in order to take up the space made by the head skimming. I will be going with a slightly higher compression ratio so a bit more power.
Iv’e had some trouble with the new head gaskets. I suspect due to the softer material used in the composite centre I should have re torqued the gaskets much sooner. The result water everywhere. I have discussed this with Ferriday Engineering who felt that the thicker gaskets could be the problem because the rates of crush vary. So instead we are going to use a compression plate made in copper to replace the skimmed material from the head. This will allow me to use the standard head gaskets from Lamborghini which are designed to do the job of sealing the bores. Mike at Ferriday says that this is what he would do if this was his engine.
Excellent site you have here but I was wondering if you knew of any forums that
cover the same topics discussed in this article? I’d really like
to be a part of online community where I can get suggestions from other knowledgeable individuals that share the same
interest. If you have any recommendations,
please let me know. Thank you!
You could try Lamborghini-talk which covers all the vintage lambo’s. And you could also join the VLG vintage Lamborghini Garage which is to be found on Yahoo.
